Salesian Youth Minister. Theology Teacher. Struggling to love.
About this Speaker
Hi! I am Lee-an! I am a 33-year old single (and very happy) woman who has made it her life mission to share God's love to the young. Aside from being a Salesian youth minister, I am also a Theology teacher. I currently teach in Ateneo de Manila University, San Carlos Seminary and Don Bosco School of Theology. My method of teaching is integrating pop culture to Theology (Pop x Theo) a.k.a the very Ignatian concept of "finding God in all things." I believe that anything that is beautiful (and discerned) can be an avenue for God's in-breaking in our lives. This idea came from my fascination with Hans Urs von Balthasar's Theological Aesthetics. I also particularly love teaching JPII's Theology of the Body and also include it in my lessons and talks. In teaching holiness and spirituality, I tend to dialogue the faith with other disciplines such as Philosophy and Psychology.
Aside from this dedication to teaching and formation, I like spending my free time watching K-dramas, stanning BTS (hahaha), climbing mountains, having coffee with friends, reading books.
The saint I love the most is St. John Bosco, whose love for the young I desire to imitate. But being a woman, I think I am more St. Catherine of Siena: fierce, brave, on fire.
"In your nature, eternal Godhead, I shall come to know my nature. And what is my nature, boundless Love? It is fire, because you are nothing but a fire of love. And you have given humankind a share in this nature for by the fire of love you created us."
Since I am a youth minister, I usually get invited to talk about youth ministry. In the academe, I teach Christian Morality and Spirituality. I particularly like speaking/teaching about the said topics and the following, too: Theology of the Body, Virtue, Prayer, Jungian Psychology integrated to Spirituality.
